“Laura” is a fictional person, but her story is based on an actual woman who was born in Shelton, Idaho, in 1913 and lived to be ninety years old. She died in a nursing home in Idaho Falls, childless and alone. Laura’s Lullaby deals with many problems of aging without immediate family, but also tells the poignant story a beautiful girl as she finds love late in life, only to lose it again. Many of her deeply-held secrets follow her to the grave.
At her death, Laura’s caregiver discovers a key that does much more than unlock a rare Oriental chest. It opens a door to Laura’s tangled past…a life replete with joys, sorrows, and surprises.
In 2009, Laura’s Lullaby won first place in Media Network of Idaho’s novel contest and honorable mention in the National Federation of Press Women’s novel contest. Laura’s Lullaby is also the recipient of an iUniverse Book Publisher Editor’s Choice Award.
